Punya Foundation Holds Candlelight Vigil for Peace in Nepal
On 13 September 2025, the Punya Foundation organised a candlelight vigil to express solidarity with the people of Nepal during the ongoing crisis that has claimed the lives of youths, security personnel, and community members. The program carried a deep message of remembrance for the departed souls and a collective wish for peace and prosperity in Nepal.
The event was honoured by the presence of the Mayors of the City of Playford and Salisbury, along with heads and representatives from various community organisations of the Nepali-speaking community in South Australia. Their participation reflected the strong community spirit and shared commitment to peace.
The evening featured several moving segments, beginning with the candlelight vigil that symbolised unity and hope. Prayers for the lost souls were offered by Pundit Santharam Upadhyaya Dhakal and Lama Telku Rimpoche, bringing both spiritual reflection and cultural depth to the gathering.
A heartfelt vote of thanks was delivered by Mr Kashi Adhikari, CEO of the Punya Foundation. The program was coordinated by Mr Puskar Poudyal, with support from Mr Hari Adhikari. The event flyer was designed by Chris Poudyal, helping convey the essence of the vigil to the wider community.
The Punya Foundation extends its gratitude to all participants, volunteers, and community organisations whose support made the vigil a success. A special acknowledgement goes to the City of Salisbury for generously providing the venue space.
Together, the event not only honoured those who have been lost but also strengthened the call for peace and prosperity in Nepal and brought the community together.
